Supreme Court rejects appeals in Bill Clinton Boulevard Bombing case

A mixed panel of judges, presided over by a EULEX judge at the Supreme Court, rejected on Friday, May 25, 2012 the appeals of the defendants B.H. and S.Q. against the verdict of the first instance court.

B.H. and S.Q. were convicted by the trial panel of the District Court of Prishtinë/Priština on 22 September 2009 for the criminal offences of aggravated murder, grievous bodily harm and causing general danger. The defendants were accused of detonating an improvised explosives device on the ground floor of a building at Bill Clinton Avenue, killing two persons and injuring several others on 24 September 2007. They also caused substantial material damage to other property premises. B.H. and S.Q. were sentenced to a long-term imprisonment of twenty-five (25) years.

The panel of judges upheld the first instance verdict with a modification on one count of causing general danger, which is consumed by the count on aggravated murder. The judgment was affirmed in the remaining parts.

In this case, an appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court of Kosovo is allowed in the third instance.
