The EULEX official shared relevant experience emerging from the systemic monitoring of the criminal justice system in Kosovo, noting in particular the similarity of the features and challenges faced during counterterrorism investigation and trial proceedings across the region, in particular in Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the workshop, national and international experts shared advanced practice and positive developments in the institutional efforts against terrorism, some with particular relevance for Kosovo, for instance in the area of protection mechanisms for criminal justice officials, the use of experts in religious extremism during court proceedings, and effective de-radicalisation programming in prisons. The EULEX official was joined at the seminar by an officer of the Kosovo Police - Department against Terrorism, who presented the challenges and successes in the investigation of terrorism in Kosovo.
