EULEX Marks the Beginning of the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week with a Tree Planting Activity

30 May 2022

The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), together with NGO “Keep it Green”, planted on 30 May 30 trees in the schoolyard of the School “Naim Frashëri” in Gllogoc/Glogovac.

The School’s Director, Shkurta Dvorani, along with a group of students, welcomed EULEX’s representatives and officials from the municipality. She thanked the Mission for the support and explained the different activities conducted by the school in the field of environmental education.

The planting activity marked the beginning of the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week and it is part of EULEX’s “Carbon Offsetting through Tree Planting Initiative”, which aims at partially offsetting the Mission’s carbon footprint and contributing to the mitigation of the harming effects of air pollution in Kosovo.

The initiative was kicked off on Earth Day, on 22 April, when the Mission planted 3,200 pine seedlings in the restricted area of the Kosovo A power plant in Obiliq/Obilić.
