EULEX marks EU Day

09 May 2012

The EU Office in Kosovo organised an EU fair in Pristina, to mark Europe Day on the 9th of May.

The Deputy Head of EULEX, Andy Sparkes and staff members from the Press and Public Information Office were on hand to explain the role of EULEX and the mission mandate. They also handed out promotional material.

Although there were many booths of EU member states and institutions, EULEX’s booth was often the main attraction in the fair, with people extremely eager to get hold of the mission’s T-shirts, pencils, and key rings as well as the fact sheets and brochures cunningly attached.

EU Day, which is celebrated every year in various cities in Kosovo, marks 9 May 1950 when the first step was made towards the creation of what is now known as the European Union. It is an occasion to organise activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and the peoples of the Union closer to one another.
