J.P. sentenced to nine years for organised crime

A mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one local judge, presided over by a EULEX judge at the District Court of Mitrovicë/a sentenced J.P. to nine years imprisonment for the criminal offences of money laundering, organised crime and unauthorized ownership, control, possession or use of weapons

J.P. was acquitted of smuggling of goods, tax evasion and evasion of duty.

In addition to a prison sentence, J.P. was ordered to pay a fine of 2000 euro. A pistol and ammunition, two vehicles and over 14,000 euro of money in cash that were seized during his arrest are confiscated.

J.P. was arrested on 17th May 2011 by EULEX police, and since then he has been in detention on remand in Pristina detention centre.

The case was prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor from Kosovo’s Special Prosecution Office.
