On 18 September 2025, the Head of Mission of the European Union Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Giovanni Pietro Barbano, presided over the official ceremony welcoming 105 men and women from the Polish Police to Kosovo. They are part of the XXXVIII rotation of the EULEX Formed Police Unit (FPU).

Addressing the FPU Officers, Barbano expressed appreciation to Poland and the Polish Police for their steadfast commitment to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy, enabling the Mission to consistently rely on a capable, disciplined, and dependable force to fulfil its challenging mandate.

The EULEX FPU supports stability in Kosovo and contributes to the security of all communities. The FPU acts as second security responder forming part of a three-tiered security responder mechanism, where Kosovo Police is the first, EULEX is the second and the Nato-led KFOR mission is the third.
