EULEX Marks the 12th Anniversary of the Tragic Death of Audrius Šenavičius

On 19th September 2025, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) honoured the memory of Audrius Šenavičius, EULEX Lithuanian Customs Officer, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on 19 September 2013.

The Head of Mission od EULEX Giovanni Pietro Barbano was joined by the Ambassador-at- Large and Head of the Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Skopje Vilma Dambrauskienė, the Deputy General Director of Kosovo Police Colonel Fehmi Hoti and the Deputy Regional Director North/Acting Regional Director North, Lieutenant Colonel Veton Eleshani in paying respect to Šenavičius’ dedication and sacrifice.

“My thoughts are with his family and loved ones, who mourn this tragic loss. Their and our grief is exacerbated by the fact that this crime remains unresolved: whoever took Audrius’ life has not yet been held to account. We will never stop pursuing justice!” Barbano said.

Ambassador Dambrauskienė recalled: “Andrius dedicated his life to service, to the rule of law and to the values that unite us in the European family. On behalf of the Lithuanian Embassy, I thank EULEX and the Kosovo Police for keeping his memory alive and for the continuous commitment to bring perpetrators to justice. Lithuania will never forget Audrius’s dedication, courage, and sacrifice. May his legacy inspire us to continue working together for peace, justice and the rule of law.”

“The memories of this tragic evet are still fresh in my memory. On behalf of the Kosovo Police and the rule of law authorities, I am committing myself not to stop until fully resolving this case,” Colonel Hoti stressed.

EULEX appeals to any person who may have information that can assist the police to come forward. The Mission offers a reward of 82,000 euros for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or the perpetrators of this murder.
