On 23^rd May 2025, as part of her first visit to Kosovo and her second visit to the Western Balkans, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, visited the European Union Rule of Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), EU’s largest civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Mission, at the EULEX Center Mitrovica.

Welcomed by the Head of Mission, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, the HR/VP met with EULEX’s management team, addressed Mission Members and received a briefing on the different aspects of the Mission mandate, work and activities.

“Addressing EULEX staff, HRVP said: “EULEX is the largest civilian CSDP Mission and the only one operating in the Western Balkans. This is because a safe and prosperous Kosovo is essential for the broader European security. You should be immensely proud of what you are doing here, so thank you very much.”
