Verdict in a terrorism case

A mixed panel of international and local judges at the Basic court in Gjilan/Gnjilane sentenced 10 people to a combined total of 59 years and 9 months years of imprisonment for commission of terrorism and organization/participation in a terrorist group. The panel of judges found that the defendants had set up a highly organised group that executed an armed attack on Serbian check point near Bujanovc/Bujanovac in 2012. The panel, in its reasoning, concluded that the group aimed at inciting conflict in Preshevë/Presevo valley to compel the international community to intervene.

Valon Jashari was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and organization of a terrorist group and sentenced to an aggregate punishment of 9 years of imprisonment and 1000 EUR fine.

Skënder Jashari was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 8 years of imprisonment.

Gazmend Lakna was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment

Gazmend Xhemshiri was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment

Qëndrim Rexhaj was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 5 year and 6 months of imprisonment.

Muhamed Aliu was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Skender Selmani was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Enver Musolli was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Abdullah Zogaj was found guilty for the commission of terrorism and participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to aggregate punishment of 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Jeton Shabani was found guilty for unauthorized supply and sale and use of weapons sentenced to aggregate punishment of 2 years and 2 months of imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by an international prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo (SPRK). All parties have the right to appeal.
