Supreme Court modifies sentences on illegal possession of weapons

A mixed panel of one EULEX judge and two local judges, presided over by the EULEX judge modified the sentences in the case against Muhamet Bojkaj, Ali Bojkaj and Gazmend Sylaj. All three defendants were charged with unauthorized ownership, control, possession or use of weapons.

The Supreme Court granted the appeals of the defendants and modified the sentences as follows: eight months of imprisonment for Muhamet Bojkaj and three months of imprisonment each for Ali Bojkaj and Gazmend Sylaj. The panel suspended all the sentences for two years.

Muhamet Bojkaj, Ali Bojkaj and Gazmend Sylaj were found guilty by the District Court of Peja/Pec for illegal possession of fire arms.

The case was prosecuted by a local district prosecutor in Peja/Pec.
