Man found guilty of murder

A panel of three EULEX judges at the District Court of Mitrovica found the defendant Agron Latifaj guilty for the criminal offence of murder and unauthorized ownership, control, possession or use of weapons. He was sentenced to an aggregate punishment of twelve years of imprisonment.

The trial panel found Agron Latifaj guilty because on 19 January 2010 the accused intentionally deprived Amir Nika of his life by shooting him seven times with a pistol in the “Kuqican” neighbourhood of Morin village, municipality of Skenderaj/Srbica.

The trial panel found Latifaj guilty also for the criminal offence of unauthorized possession of the weapon which he used to commit the abovementioned crime.

The case was prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor from the District Court of Mitrovica.
