Press Release

Trial to continue against four defendants on the Klecka case

30 March 2012

A mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one local judge of the Prishtine/Pristina District Court on March 30, 2012 decided to reopen the trial against four of the defendants in the Arben Krasniqi et al. known as the Klecka case. The proceedings will continue against the defendants Fatmir Limaj, Naser Krasniqi, Nexhmi Krasniqi and Naser Shala.

The main trial is being re-opened against these individuals because the panel of judges deem that there is enough evidence on the issue of ‘command responsibility’ against those defendants, without taking into consideration the evidence of Agim Zogaj (WitnessX), to require proper determination by the trial panel after hearing witnesses.

The trial panel rejected one charge against Arben Krasniqi and acquitted him on two other counts of the indictment. The defendants Behlul Limaj, Refki Mazrreku, Sabit Shala, Shaban Shala and Besim Shurdhaj were acquitted of all charges.

The case is being prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office at the Prishtine/Pristina District Court.
