Verdict in Svirca, Ukaj, Shatri and Baholli case

Today, a panel of two EULEX judges and one Kosovo judge of the Pristina District Court, found the defendants Muje Ukaj and Nexhat Shatri guilty of the criminal offence of Irresponsible Economic Activity. Blerim Svirca was found guilty of the criminal act of Abusing Official Position or Authority. Qefser Baholli was acquitted.

Blerim Svirca was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. The sum of 60,000 Euros was confiscated and it will be transferred to the Treasury of Kosovo.

Jail terms of two years and two months were imposed on Muje Ukaj and Nexhat Shatri. However, the sentences against both these defendants were suspended, and the punishment shall not be executed if the defendants do not commit another criminal offence for the period of four years.

The convicted persons shall pay the costs of the proceedings which are determined, in relation to the number of sessions held.

The prosecution was represented by a local prosecutor of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK).

The parties have the right to appeal against this verdict within fifteen (15) days from the day that the copy of the judgment was served. The appeal must be announced within eight days from the date of the verdict.
