Verdict in Shasivari, Nikci and Alishani case

Today, a mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one Kosovo judge at the Pristina District Court, issued the following verdict in relation to the trial of the defendants Shefka Shasivari, Jusuf Nikci, and Ahmet Alishani:

Shefka Shasivari was found guilty of the criminal offence of Assisting in the Abuse of an Official Position and was sentenced to one year in prison. The punishment shall not be executed if the defendant does not commit another criminal offence for the period of four years.

Jusuf Nikci was found guilty of the criminal offence of Inciting of Falsification of Official Documents and was sentenced to three months in prison. The punishment shall not be executed if the defendant does not commit another criminal offence for the period of one year. Nikci was acquitted of the charge of Aggravated Fraud in Office.

Ahmet Alishani was found guilty of the criminal offence of Inciting of Falsification of Official Documents and Abusing of Official Position, and was sentenced to two years in prison. The punishment shall not be executed if the defendant does not commit another criminal offence for the period of four years.

The court hereby instructs the injured party to pursue the property claim through civil action.

The prosecution was represented by a EULEX prosecutor of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK).

The parties have the right to appeal against this verdict within fifteen (15) days from the day that the copy of the judgment was served. The appeal must be announced within eight days from the date of the verdict.
