The EULEX Judges and Prosecutors shall assist the judicial authorities in their progress towards sustainability and accountability and in further developing and strengthening an independent multi-ethnic justice system, ensuring that these institutions are free from political interference and adhering to internationally recognised standards and European best practices.

In order to fulfil this task, EULEX Judges and Prosecutors shall monitor, mentor and advise their local counterparts on all areas related to the rule of law (Joint Action 2008/124/CFSP on the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, EULEX KOSOVO; Law No. 03/L-053 “On the Jurisdiction, Case Selection and Case Allocation of EULEX Judges and Prosecutors in Kosovo”).
