EULEX in response to arrest operation

23 April 2015

Regarding yesterday's news in connection to an arrest warrant issued by an international judge in a case of a person who was already in prison, EULEX considers the matter as in the purview of the relevant Kosovo Institutions. The person in question presented himself to the relevant institution, but this institution failed to communicate this course of action to the court. This incident exposes a technical fault within the relevant institutions which needs to be addressed in due time to improve their effectiveness in administering justice in Kosovo.

EULEX is, as always, at the disposal of the Kosovo Police and Kosovo Correctional Service, to improve the quality of justice administration in Kosovo.
